Xiaomi revealed back in October that the stable MIUI 11 update will be rolled out for Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 starting on 13 November. Xiaomi has released the release of MIUI 11 stable update for the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A in India ahead of schedule in what appears to be a pleasant surprise for users and is now available for download with a lot of UI tweaks and new features.
The update also includes the Android security patch for October. It should be noted, however, that the current stable MIUI 11 update for Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A is still based on Android Pie, not Android 10.
We found multiple posts on the official Mi Community forum from Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 users, detailing the launch of stable MIUI 11 updates for them in India.
The Redmi 8A’s MIUI 11 update has the build number v11.0.1.PCPINXM and is 544 MB in size, while the Redmi 8 has the build number v11.0.1.PCNINXM and the size of 600 MB. We reached out for clarification to Xiaomi, and the rollout has actually started in a phased manner.
As for the updates, the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A MIUI 11 update introduces a revamped UI that eliminates a lot of clutter, enhances touch controls, and also incorporates nature app sounds for alarm ringtones as well as dynamic music features for incoming notifications.
It also adds the file transfer function of Mi Share in-house for easy file sharing between devices. There is also a preview feature of the document which allows users to see a preview of a file before opening it, as the name clearly implies.
The stable MIUI 11 update for Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A also introduces the fast print function, allowing users to print documents without installing a dedicated in-house or third-party feature.
The software update introduced the Game Turbo feature for improving performance during play, as well as the fast response function for messaging apps and a more powerful Notes app. You can test the availability of the MIUI 11 update on your device by following this path if you own a Redmi 8 or Redmi 8A: Settings > Phone > System Update.
